JAZZ MIDDELHEIM - archives

I just discovered these footages from various concerts recorded by the Belgian Flemish Television (VRT) @ Middelheim Jazz Festival during the seventies.

It's a unique opportunity to see rare live footage of, a.o.:

Palle Mikkelborg Quintet (1972)  Palle Mikkel Borg (trumpet), Etienne Verschueren (alto sax), Philip Catherine (guitar), Bob Porter (vibraphone, piano), Nick Kletchkovsky (bass), Freddy Rottier (drums)

Scott Bradford (organ), John Surman (sax, flute), Malcolm Griffiths (trombone), Jiggs Whigham (trombone), Marc Moulin (keyboards), Wando Lam (guitar), Günther Lenz (bass), Freddie Deronde (bass), Stu Martin (drums)

NUCLEUS (1972)  Alan Jackson (drums), Roy Babbington (bass), Dave McRae (keyboard), Ian Carr (trumpet, flute), Brian Smith (soprano)

Max Roach M’BOOM (1973)
Percussion ensemble led by Max Roach also with Roy Brooks, Omar Clay, Joe Chambers, Warren Smith, Freddie Waits, and Ray Mantilla.

 Sonny Rollins  (1973)

Also footages of Dave Pike Set, Jeanne Lee with Gunther Hampel , Fred Van Hove and many others.

I was there for M'Boom, Rollins and Fred Van Hove. Just another long-haired bloke somewhere in the audience (there were a lot of long-haired blokes in the audience in the early seventies).  I saw Nucleus too but I can't remember if it was in Antwerp or somewhere else.

Dank u wel VRT!
